The Internet has transformed the face of business, and nearly every successful business needs to have an online presence to be successful.  Online Presence is far more then just a website, because the pages alone, no matter how well designed, will not generate traffic. In order to have a presence on the Internet you need to engage all the tools that are out there for you to use, and this includes many different types of social networking avenues.

No matter what the business, from content providing to selling edge protectors, cardboard edge protectors, and custom packaging solutions an online presence can make or break your business. The simple fact is that you can have a great product, something extremely innovative, and if no one ever learns of it not make a dime.  But social networking not only allows you to talk about your innovation but to connect with other businesses that might need exactly what you are providing.

It is commonly known that social networking can help people sell products or traditional services like insurance.  If you happen to have other things for sale, you can also find people interested in those products. This can drive traffic to your well designed website where the goods you have or services you offer will be seen.  Getting people to the website is, after all, half the battle. From there you can present yourself and product through a tailored design that is well thought out and will hook them in.

What the main lesson is that we need to learn to use all the tools that are there for us on the Internet in order to promote our business.  From edge protectors, cardboard edge protectors, and custom packaging solutions to more traditional offerings like organic cleaners or investment help, one can find many ways to use well designed websites.  But standing alone a website is just space taken on a server.  You need traffic for it to be a real business tool.  One way to generate that traffic is using social networking as part of your marketing plan.  This allows you to promote your products or services to those who need them.

One such example of this is when someone came up with w biodegradable “foil” film.  This film now is being used to package organic snacks made in Hawaii. The two companies complement one another and would likely have never connected without the Internet. Using a social network allowed the snack maker to ask around for packaging solutions and the creator of the film was alerted to someone needing his  product. Now consumers can buy healthy snacks in packages that they know are good for the planet, no matter how they dispose of them.

This shows you the power of both well designed websites and how social networking can promote your business. By using all the tools out there on the Internet, both innovative business people and common consumers can find one another. If you happen to have a business that needs more traffic, consider social networking websites to help you promote it.
